Kidspiration

photo from flickr.com/photos/kjarrett

Taking this class has taught me a lot about different tools and technology to use in the classroom. One of those tools is Kidspiration. Kidspiration is a workspace that is visual for the students. You can add pictures, text, spoken words, math etc. and make it into a worksheet, quiz, or whatever you would like. Kidspiration has activities in all curriculum areas. Students can create different graphic organizers and stories to help organize ideas and build critical thinking. There are so many different things that teachers and students can do with Kidspiration, you just have to explore the tool. Click here to download 30 day trial and learn more about Kidspiration.

Google Docs

I have always used Google to research things but what I didn't realize is that their are many different things that google has attatched to it that really are great tools to use! Google Docs you can make a presentation, store documents, pictures, sites, and make surveys. I really thought the surveys were cool, and is a great tool for teachers and students to use. For teachers surveys at the begining of the year are a great way to find out what your students favorite subjects are, how they learn easier, what technology they use to learn, and much more. With that survey teachers will know what the students like to learn, what they don't, also it will help the teacher teach the students better, and the teachers can intergrate the students favorite technology into their teaching. Students can use the survey for class projects that involve finding out what people think about certain subjects, etc. Overall I suggest everyone at least try Google Docs! Learning in Hand

Having all these mobile devices in reach and adding educational uses and then they call it mobile learning. With mobile learning you can go and use the device anywhere and everywhere. When tools and resources are always available with mobile learning it provides greater options for personalizing learning. Mobile learning is great way for students to work easier with groups because it helps to communicate with or without seeing eachother. Some schools allow mobile devices and others don't, the fact is, is that technology and mobile devices are not going to go away. Therefore schools should embrace different types of technology to better students learning.

One Laptop Per Child Project

from: flickr.com/photos/Air Force One
This project is to help students get cheap laptops so students can engage in their education and learning. The laptops are low powered and low cost (about $100 dollars per laptop). This will help students learn how to work together and collaborate more. The cause of rapid change in the world is digital technology, we want children to develop the desire for learning and how to learn. With this rapid change, digital technology is also the resolution. When every child has a laptop they have hands on development and participation with learning, their limits are wiped away.
